condition of item needing repair
A large section of ceramic was missing from the back of the tricorne hat. There was some previous restoration to a chipped area and also a dirty hair line crack.
Ceramic restoration requirement
The client wanted the Prattware Toby Jug to have an invisible ceramic repair.
Materials used to complete the restoration
The missing section was cast in Araldite 20/20 epoxy resin, the resin had been colour matched using dry powder pigments prior to casting. The area was then hand retouched using Rustins waterbased ceramic glaze and dry powder pigments.
