This large Japanese porcelain charger has a diameter of 40cms, it had been previously bonded but the fragments were misaligned and riveted, 6 large fragments, unstable glaze.
Ceramic restoration requirement
Full Restoration using conservation grade materials.
Materials used to complete the restoration
Cleaning: water and cotton wool swabs
Dismantled: water (soften rivet plugs) and water washable paint stripper
Bonding: Fynebond (epoxy resin)
Colour fill: Fynebond and dry powder pigments
Polishing: Micromesh polish clothes and greygate polish
