This beautifully modeled Meissen porcelain group of figures which depicts maidens dancing with a garland of flowers stands at about 25cms high. It was extremely dirty and the dancers intricate lace dresses was embedded with grime and straw. The figures and base were very badly damaged - 45 pieces. Previously bonded with a combination of epoxy resins, super glue, animal glue and hardboard.

Ceramic restoration requirement

The client wanted the object to be fully restored to an invisble finish using conservation grade materials.

Materials used to complete the restoration

Cleaning and dismantling: Calgon, Biotex, steam cleaning, water washable paint stripper, acetone.

Bonding: Fynebond epoxy resin, legs, shoes, grass pedestals are doweled for added strength and then bonded with Fynebond
Colour Fill: Fynebond, dry powder pigments and bulked with Cab-O-Sil.
Modelling: Fingers of one hand modelling in Fynebond.
Retouching: Base is retouched with Golden Fluid Acrylic Paints
Polishing: Micromesh polishing cloths
